"Being free brings a lightness, a carefree surrender to all that is happening around you, and, above all, an acceptance of reality". Deepak Chopra
LIGHTNESS. I mentioned on Instagram last week about my word of the year - lightness, and how this summer I plan to use this word to help reground myself (you can read the post here). I've been feeling a bit off balance in the life/work department lately. I've worked very hard the last year and a half to try to prioritize my health and well being alongside being a good mama and wife and the last month or so has had me feeling that wee bit of balance shift. In the past, my work has always come before my well being and it was a very difficult shift to make. One that took me getting quite ill a while back to realize I finally needed to. Read More

This is such a huge highlight in my career and one that means so much to Jane and myself. Being a small, independent publisher and seeing our book featured in a huge magazine was a moment that I'll never forget! I'm truly beyond thankful for all of your support of Within and all of our titles. It really does mean more than I can ever say - so thank you so much! Read More

A few weeks ago I posted on Instagram about my two daughters both learning how to knit. Both of my girls are now knitting and it's been a true joy to be able to hang out with them while enjoying one of my favourite things. I reached out to you all asking for your favourite tips for teaching wee ones to knit and I thought it would be fun to share some of your answers and my experience with teaching them on the blog too! So I watched the series finale of Downton Abbey this week....finally. I've been holding off for ages because....well...I just didn't want it to be over. Yes, some of the past season or so have had some boring stages but darn did it pick back up this season. Regardless, I'm a huge fan of the show and it really was one of my favourites. I will miss the characters, yes even Daisy...lol. I thought it would be fun to reminisce a bit about how Downton has played it's own role in my creative journey. Read More
Remember how much we all loved coloring books as kids? I was known to spend hour after hour coloring my little heart out happily and quietly. And now as a mother myself, I happily watch my kiddos embrace their love for coloring. But what about us mom/dads who still love to color? I know I still color with my kiddos regularly but I have to admit, I'm getting pretty darn tired of coloring Barbie and My Little Pony. There are only so many times an adult can color a kids colouring book until we start to get fed up. Read More

I had a wonderful reminder recently of the importance of making handmade memories and how powerful they can truly be. My Omi, who is an avid knitter, loved to make Cowichan Sweaters, vests etc. We all had them when I was growing up - my parents, my Omi and Opa, my sisters and I, you name it - we wore it. Read More
This month for Making Ourselves my focus has been on food. Not a diet, but healthy lifestyle changes. You see I hate to cook...most of the time. Realistically I would much rather be sewing or knitting! Let's face it - cooking eats up into the creative time that I enjoy best. But now that we moved into our house my hubby gets home later and guess who has to make dinner most nights? That's right - me. Insert sad face. Read More
