I’ve been mostly offline the past 2 weeks with family on holidays & I wanted to restate again here after catching up that I am (& will continue to be) working hard to educate myself, do the work & fight for an inclusive & anti-racist community in our industry (& beyond) both online & offline. I know I’ll make mistakes (and have) and I will learn from them. I do not condone hatred, bigotry, racism, and violence towards the bipoc, lbgtq+ and marginalized folx who are bravely speaking up about their truth - ever. And just so it’s very clear I side with their truth and support them. My spaces are safe, welcoming and inclusive. Hatred is not welcome here and I will not tolerate comments that are.

✨If you haven’t already please take the time to read, research and educate yourself on these topics. Do not rely on bipoc to do the work for you. Please remember to choose the words you use online carefully and with thought. Would you speak the words you’re typing to that human in real life? Would you spew those hateful things at someone when you stare them in the eye? As with all things internet related it’s pertinent to remember there is a person with real feelings on the other side of the screen and odds are they have been through enough. Stop, take a breath and listen to their truths and the words they are sharing - their experiences are valid and so are their emotions. Sit with your discomfort and then learn from it moving forward.

🛒Please support bipoc work. There are tons of talented designers/yarn dyers etc on IG & Ravelry - support their businesses. There are great lists being shared if you’re looking for new creative biz to support. I share a few as well in my story highlight “let’s do better”.

💜Please also RESPECT & support the courageous bipoc, lbgtq+ & marginalized folx who have been endlessly doing the emotional labour on social media. Support their koffi/patreon & businesses.

I’ll be offline for the next week with the family for summer holiday. I’ve cast on poolside a #ripplecroptop by the fabulous @jessssiemae and cannot wait to wear this! I’ve seen so many awesome versions and I could not resist knitting one any longer 😃. I love making special projects during our holidays that hold that years family memories with them. ☀️ What knits have you cast on for the summer?

I stand with @hi.ravelry and their decision to implement policies to work towards an inclusive and safe space free from hate speech, white supremacy and racism. I am proud to be a long standing member of Ravelry and will continue to be so moving forward in the hopes that we can one day have a community free from hatred, fear and racism. One that is embracing, kind, inspiring and safe.

If you haven’t already I encourage you to take some time to read the Ravelry statement closely and carefully. Please take the time to do your own research - google the terms you don’t understand, look up the meaning of inclusiveness, and note that Ravelry is a private enterprise and they are not bound by the same “freedom of speech” rules that the government is (don’t take my word for it, look it up).

Please take a breath and sit with your thoughts and emotions before spreading hate and falsehoods across the internet. We are all humans, with hearts and souls and deserve to be treated as such with decency and respect. Please think before you type for there is usually a person with feelings on the other side of the screen.

That being said I will not tolerate ANY hate speech, white supremacy or racism in this space. I posted this as soon as I was able but I am closing comments on this post for the time being until I can moderate them safely.
