READING || WEEKEND KNITS BOOK REVIEW

Can we all say a woot woot for cooler weather? I'm so excited that the fall brisk air has arrived so I can dig into Jen Geigley's new book Weekend: Simple, Modern Knits! Filled with 12 fab patterns ranging from hats, scarves, cowls & more, all knit with bulky or super bulky yarn, with patterns for both men/women and kids! Weekend makes for a book filled with great gift knitting & for satisfying that need for the perfect weekend knit!

"'Weekend' is a collection of 12 simple, modern knits for women, men and children. Knits you can live in on the weekend; knits you can create in a weekend."

Weekend's projects all "exude comfort and ease". Jen's mission when creating this book was to "create casual, contemporary, wearable hand knits that can serve as foundation pieces in anyone's wardrobe". She really wanted to create a book with "approachable patterns" that weren't too complex that make knitters say "I want to make that".

If you know Jen's style you know she's a minimalist at heart. She believes that "less is more, and simple is good". She feels that her goal as a knitter is to "make go-to pieces that feel just right", like her favourite soft gray pullover from college.

I think Jen's achieved her goals with Weekend: Simple, Modern Knits. It's projects are all achievable, simple without being boring and all result in a fulfilling and totally wearable project. I can't wait to get some yummy super bulky yarn and get knitting!
