the many shades of mackenzie

it's pouring buckets of rain today and i needed to remind myself of the last few days we had of warm, fresh spring air and of mackenzie's many sunglass choices.

moby dick cable controller

i love this little knitted whale who will stash all those unsightly cables that are always being lost. i have a bad habit of losing them all the time and this is a quirky, fun pattern to keep them on hand from artemis adornments and can be found here or here.

lollychops has done it again. her site is always one of my fave places to go exploring for a fun, new project. these little eggs are amazing and what makes them that much more special is that they are easy! yes, easy! i can't wait to make some of these. i hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

what could be better than the pioneer woman and bakerella together in one place?

let's just say i would have died and gone to heaven if i suddenly awoke in ree drummond's lodge with both her, bakerella, the mustangs outside and all that glorious, scrumptious food, for even just one hour, heck one minute! go take a peek - if you dare. here are the links for two of my favorite sites:

the bright side project - sunshine delivered daily

we all need a little sunshine in our lives. for your daily dose head over to the bright side project (brought to you by blah, blah, blahg). it would take me an awfully long time to write about how great an idea i think the bright side project is, so i will let you find out for yourselves. let's just say there is lots of eye candy, chances to win gorgeous accessories and all you have to do is answer one simple question a day for your very own shot at some sunshine.

head on over and take a peek. it may just brighten up your day!

wishbone bikes

i want one of these. is it bad that a full grown adult, a mother nonetheless, to want one of these for herself? the wishbone, the ultimate pre-bike, 3-bikes-in-1. Here's the deets from their site:

Unlike any other running bike, the Wishbone bike evolves with a child’s different stages of development.

It starts at age 1 as a trike, converts to a running bike as the child grows, and by four to five years old, the 'wishbone' frame is flipped, making the Wishbone Bike one of the largest running bikes on the market.

With its environmentally sustainable design, and innovative 3-bikes-in-1 feature, the Wishbone bike designed in New Zealand really is the ultimate pre-bike.

Every Wishbone Bike has 60% post-consumer recycled plastic wheels, is made from sustainably managed woods and is bonded and finished with eco-friendly products. The Bike box and all printed material inside is recycled and printed with non-toxic inks.

At Wishbone Design Studio, environmental objectives are integral to decision-making. We're committed to measurably improving our environmental performance year by year.

the best part is they have canadian retailers. find the list here or also at the new store called eio! open now, brought to us from the same folks who started one of my fave stores - beautymark, on commercial drive in my old stomping grounds of vancouver.

make your own anthropoligie shower curtain

fixer-upper's ruffle curtain - $15

craving one of those ruffly, cloud & spectrum anthropologie shower curtains but don't wanna spend the cash? well look no further. we spotted (via oh, hello friend) how to make your own from some basic muslin and mind-numbing sewing over at fixer-upper.

do you think it hurt her pride?

sitting with mom in the coffeshop

when she decides to excitedly tell everyone in the coffee shop that "i'm a big girl now, no boobie and i nap in my bed!".

the kid was so friggin excited she fell headfirst off her seat! i would have pissed myself laughing if i hadn't have thought it would make me look like such a terrible mother for chuckling at my clumsy child, who takes after me by the way.

oh, and don't worry, a nice man caught her - she's fine, but is it bad of me to have caught it on camera?

henri the knitted bear

i have been on the look out for a simple knitted toy pattern and came across the heart warming henri the knitted bear. i just want to pick this little guy up and give him a squeeze. if he does this to me can you imagine what my daughter will do when she sets her baby blues on henri? you can find out how to make a henri of your own here or if you are a ravelry member here.

doesn't this make you want to sit outside and bask in the sun and have a chat with henri? her photography is hilarious!

ohhhh, he loves coffee too! my new best friend.

i think i need to get out more.....

it sucked and then i cried

it sucked and then i cried
how i had a baby, a breakdown, and a much needed margarita
by: heather b. armstrong

i am a fan of dooce. her photography is delicious, her humour is - well, hilarious, and i think she is fabulous. her newest book - "it sucked and then i cried" is due out on march 24th. if you haven't been to her site, go take a peek here.

adorable apple cozy

who likes a dirty apple all banged up from your purse or lunch bag? if i still worked in an office this would give me serious bragging rights! i was one of the first to come in to work with the ol' banana protector case - yes, it looked like something that only dirty thoughts would conjure, but it worked. this is so fresh and adorable. who doesn't want to dress up and coordinate their apples with their stash yarn and oh, let's not forget that there's a button on it?

if you would like to make one of your own apple cozies you can only find the pattern on ravelry here at the moment. if you aren't a member sign up - it's free! if you aren't in the mood to knit one up you can buy your own at unravel me designs.

the perfect baby shower treat

i caught these yummy, little pacifier cookies from designergirl007 (via craftgossip) and thought they were sure to be a great break in the usual rut of potluck goodies to bring to your average joe blow baby shower. so leave behind the deviled eggs and whip together a stylish batch of these instead. here's the link.

beauty of a bedside table

inspired by a table she spotted at anthropologie, the lovely brit from cucumbersome decided to take matters into her own hands and revamp a basic ikea piece to look like the gorgeous table you see here. all we can say is wow and congrats for the spot on design sponge! take a look at cucumbersome for the how to.
