this cute little guy is harold the lunch monster. lunch monsters by ones and zeros fashion are quirky and eye catching. what kid wouldn't want to carry harold to lunch? you can find an assortment of little monsters at their etsy shop here. (via cosa verde)
ok, this is stunning. i seem to be coming across the most gorgeous quilt patterns lately, must be the arrival of the spring weather. i am a huge fan of anna maria horner. i adore her material and her book - "seams to me". it's on the top of my list for mother's day gifts, her use of colour and pattern is stunning and so vibrant and fresh. if you want one of these as much as i do follow the link for the free pdf pattern.
if any of you don't feel like attempting the pillow covers from tuesday, how about a nice simple cover with a zipper? craftynest has the tutorial. happy pillow making - just remember, when you are done sewing it, take a cat nap on it. ok, who am i kidding, who has time for a nap?
i just can't get enough of the buttons, but to tell you the truth, i have never thought of embroidering a button. here ya go - a tutorial on how to do just that. head on over to craftstylish for the down and dirty.
i wrote yesterday about my obsession with sewing tutorials and here's another one for you guys. these are the kinds of things that are hard to figure out when reading in a book, so i am thankful for the many creative and talented people out there who post these kinds of things for newbie sewers like myself. just deana has an easy to follow tute on how to sew a contrasting fabric hem. so add some spice to that skirt next time and whip out one of these hems.
do any of you have a nifty sewing tutorial you'd like to see on here? we would love to hear about it.
yes, i am writing about anne murray. i can't believe it myself, but i am. i was in the shower and this song came on the radio. the lyrics seemed so fitting for the weather and the season that i thought i would post some classic anne murray in all her glory for you to wake up to.
Beneath it's snowy mantle cold and clean, The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to green. The snowbird sings the song he always sings, And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in spring. When I was young my heart was young then, too. And anything that it would tell me, that's the thing that I would do. But now I feel such emptiness within, For the thing that I want most in life's the thing that I can't win.
Spread your tiny wings and fly away, And take the snow back with you where it came from on that day. The one I love forever is untrue, And if I could you know that I would fly away with you.
The breeze along the river seems to say, That he'll only break my heart again should I decide to stay. So, little snowbird, take me with you when you go, To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful waters flow.
i look forward to reading the design sponge everyday and got excited when i saw this diy today. it's tax time and low and behold my hubby is an accountant! what a great way for anyone to keep track of all those little receipts and things, plus recycle old envelopes? i don't know about you guys, but this is one of those super, simple projects that you say to yourself "why didn't i think of that?".
on my journey of finding out how to work my damn sewing machine and learning if i can even run the thing properly, i have become obsessed with great tutorials and books that can maybe help me learn how to sew. here's a good one for learning how to sew a pocket (which freaks me out) over at fat orange cat. our daughter is not shy. she loves to talk (just like her momma) and she just oozes joy when she is singing and dancing. i caught this shot of her singing along with american idol last night, and yes, i watch american idol and am proud of it, and yes, i make my daughter watch it with me. i know i am not the only one...any of you out there loving idol this season?
this bright, fresh and fun, fabric easter egg tutorial can be found here at retro mama. they look like an addictive way to use up stash material and to stay away from the looming mess of broken egg shells, paint, and yolk that will accompany toddlers dying easter eggs.
one of my fave sites to check for new knitted goodies is krisknits. she's got a new pattern out that i thought was so precious for that new little baby in your life. this pattern is a great one for an easy, zone out, watch american idol, chase the baby, snack, chat with hubby, needle clicking pattern. you can find it on her site or here at ravelry.
ok, you all know i love a good repurposing project, i think they are important, and i get a kick out of it. i am not alone. zakka life has a ingenious way of turning your empty lotion bottle into a handy cell phone charger holder - go here for the details. i could definitely use one of these suckers!
here's another project i have been dying to try. if you have an abundance of glass jars and are looking for a fun & quirky way to display them, how about trying this tutorial for a terrarium from craft. i love that you can make them your own by adding neat little toys and figurines in them. i think kids would love this project! does anyone have these out in their homes already? we would love to see pics!
