I'm back from our road trip over to Washington and I'm super excited to show you the goodies I brought home with me! The shops we visited are all wonderful and special and I'm so happy to have been able to bring back with me some very yummy goodies!
I had such a wonderful time visiting these amazing shops! All the lovelies from this post were from Churchmouse Yarns & Teas, Tolt Yarn and Wool Shop and Dry Goods Design. If you are in the Seattle, WA area I highly recommend visiting all 3 shops! Each is special and inspiring in it's own unique way!
Jane and I are still on our Summer Road Trip! Our next stop is the fabulous Tolt Yarn and Wool Shop! We are beyond excited! Tolt is also a shop that is not to be missed! I've even threatened to move in and live there...lol. We sure hope you'll all make the gorgeous drive out to Carnation, WA to visit us at Tolt! We'll be there on Sunday, July 12th, from 1pm - 3pm!
I'm on the road today with Jane travelling to the iconic and gorgeous Churchmouse Yarns & Teas Shop on pretty Bainbridge Island, WA! This is a shop that is definitely not to be missed! Drool worthy in fact! Bainbridge Island is a quick (and super affordable) relaxing ferry ride away from downtown Seattle (read the easy directions here)! After going through all the finished project pictures I noticed a strong trend towards blues, teals and neutrals. I had a wonderful reminder recently of the importance of making handmade memories and how powerful they can truly be. My Omi, who is an avid knitter, loved to make Cowichan Sweaters, vests etc. We all had them when I was growing up - my parents, my Omi and Opa, my sisters and I, you name it - we wore it.

I love to sew and being a mom to 2 girls, one of my hopes is that they will both also love to sew. Rachel Low's new book - "Girl's Guide to DIY Fashion" is a breath of fresh air in our house. Both my girls went crazy for it and were begging to get sewing after flipping through the bright, colorful and inspiring pages!
It's felt like eons since I last sewed. With my back injury sewing has taken way longer to get back into. I'm dying to get back on my machine and whip up a few new additions to my summer wardrobe.
Even though I haven't sewed them yet, I've got the following patterns bought, printed and almost ready to start!

It's the type of mag you will keep for years to come! They are beautifully put together and I highly recommend them!
My favorite part of our knit alongs is the wonderful and amazing community of knitters who join in each year!
What makes knit alongs so fun? Community and frienships (both new & old). One thing I notice and treasure so much is the loving and kind group of knitters in our Ravelry group. You guys are always busily chatting away (I can hardly keep up..lol) and sharing, inspiring, helping, teaching and just enjoying knitting with each other virtually.
Ravelry is fun to use but can sometimes seem intimidating if you've never used it. Here's some tips below to get the most out of our knit along thread!

Seriously, this is one of my favorite podcasts and it's truly a "pinch me now" kind of moment to be a guest! Ashely is such a beautiful talent and it's been so wonderful to watch how fast this awesome podcast of hers has bloomed!
It's such an honor to have been asked to be a guest and to be included among so many amazing and talented people! Seriously, I'm freaking out big time here...lol! I listen and re-listen to some of Ashley's podcasts because there is always such a wealth of wonderful information that I don't want to miss a thing. I love to sit at my computer with a cup of hot coffee and sit back and soak it in. So yah, I'm still happy dancing around my house like a dork - but hey, dorks rule;
Aside from being an awesome podcaster, Ashley has a great blog, a lovely mercantile (drool!) and is also one of the designers behind Little Woolens along with the lovely Annie Claire.
